Panel discussion: Making a career in PL (even in uncertain times)
This panel session is an opportunity for you to discuss your professional development and career path with the panelists. We define “career in PL” broadly – it includes time spent in school, academic and industrial settings, and even hobby projects. The panelists will share their insights, informed by their own personal journeys, and we encourage participants to join us in sharing their views and experiences as well as asking questions. There will be no long introductions, and no formal presentations; the session will be led by you, the audience.
Topics might include
- The variety of career paths in PL: not just the academic job market
- How to have a successful grad school experience
- Visa and immigration-related issues
- The impact of Covid-19
- Overcoming or coping with adversity
- Handling stress well
But what we talk about is up to you. Come with a question or two in mind.
